Sprint Addict On-line User's Manual

Minimum System Requirements

Sprint Addict currently runs on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch, with a broadband mobile 3G or WiFi Internet connection.

Setting up the Game.

To be able to play Sprint Addict, you need to perform several simple tasks, which are:

Download & Install. Download the game here and install the game on your iPhone 3G or iPod Touch.

Create User Account. You need to create a user account here to be able to race as well as participate in web based racing community content, such as the Sprint Addict community forum.

Once you have completed these simple steps, simply run the game by clicking on the program icon on your home screen. The following sections describe everything concerning game setup & racing.

Game wishes you may have for the game are welcome, and will certainly be considered to be included in the game. eMail us your comments, or post them at the forum.

Main screen.

When you run the game you will be presented with the game main screen. This screen has three options: race, setup, and several buttons that will take you to the web site to view statistics and main game web site.

The race button will bring you to the track selection and connection screen, that will let you select the track you wish to race in.

The setup button allows you to change your vehicle appearance.

Game Setup.

When you click the setup button in the main game screen you will be able to change the vehicle appearance.

You can change vehicle model (out of 3 different ones), vehicle paintwork, and gender of the racer. Currently these options change vehicle appearance; this does not affect vehicle performance (speed, maneuverability, etc).

Track Selection, Connection.

The connection screen is where you begin to enter the on-line racing system.

Simply select the track you wish to race in by clicking the arrow buttons, enter your username and password.

If you have not created your account already, you can create one here

If the information you provided is correct, you will enter the racing track you selected. This is where all the racers meet up to race and chat. If you entered the track and a race is currently in progress, you will view this current race until it is finished. If no current race is in progress, you will come up to the chat screen.

The chat screen lets you chat with the other racers currently connected to the same track as you are. It also lets you enter the racing queue. As a single race can only hold a limited number of racers at any given time, a racing queue is set up to allow racers to join the race in a queued manner, where first in racers will race first. The number of racers that are waiting in queue that can actually get to race depend on the track. Some tracks allow for more simultaneous racers than others. Also, the first three positioned racers in the previous race get to race again if they want to, without having to wait in the racing queue for their turn.

You join the racing queue by pressing the flag-icon button in the chat screen. If you just want to view the race, either don't press this button, or press it again to leave the queue. A message from the track server will notify you of your current status.

If you press the ? Button, or type /help in the chat screen, you will be presented with the available chat commands. Chat commands allow you to manage certain aspects of the game that are not available through the graphical user interface, such as be able to ask about a certain racer online status or your current queue position, or send private messages to other players.

Before a race begins, the chat screen will periodically show the next race players. If you are among them, you will also be notified with a message in the chat screen.

Racing.

Once you get your turn to race, and the race begins, you will be positioned in the start grid. When the green light turns on, you can use the controls to maneuver the vehicle.

On iPhone 3G and iPod Touch, you steer the vehicle by tilting the device side-ways. The STOP button triggers breaking, CAM button changes camera view, AUTO button toggles auto-acceleration on or off, GAS button accelerates (if auto-acceleration is off), and the SPRINT button triggers the vehicle Sprint function.

The Sprint function, when triggered, boosts your speed for a specific short period of time. Once it has been used it needs to be reloaded to be able to use it again. Loading takes some time, so you can't be sprinting all the time, and so you have to decide when sprinting your vehicle can be most beneficial for your race performance.

Racing is simple. The racer who completes first the preset number of laps wins the the race. The first three positions get to race again if they wish. Different racers will get point awards depending on the final race position. Point awards are also granted to racers who get least damage on the vehicle for the entire race, record a fast lap for the race, or does a best progression from starting position to final race position. Additional points are awarded for the best racer, which is computed considering the overall points achieved by each racer.

If the number of racers when the race starts is under a minimum value (usually 10), the race is in practice mode. Practice mode races do not sum points for the running racers, and robots players may be added to the race.

Certain tracks may have Sprint Sections, which are marked on the the track with a different color, and usually are arrow-shaped. Special devices underneath the concrete of the track allow the bike to hold on more firmly to it, and allow you to boost your speed. Some tracks also have different paths to get to the same place, some paths have sprint sections, some don't. So depending on your choice, usage of Sprint sections, vehicle Sprint function and your driving style you may be able to get to advance your opponents more easily! So, depending on the circuit, you have to discover which path to take that more suits your driving style in order to win the race. Getting to know the circuit is vital to success.

That's it! Have fun racing, be polite with other players, and remember game wishes and/or bug reports are welcome. You can send them in at the forum, or by eMail.

Happy Racing!
